939 Durian ABC

Recently just discovered inside Seri Kembangan (Jalan Pasar) there is a ABC stall selling variety flavors of ABC (such as dragon fruit, mango, etc.) but their most famous ABC is Durian ABC. Their ABCs sold from RM2.00 to RM3.00, depends what flavor of ABC you order. Definitely I had ordered Durian ABC which cost me RM2.50 per bowl and the price is considered reasonable. You may drop by here to taste some ABC to cool down your body during sunny day. Please remember they only open from 8am to 5pm!

Penang Famous Char Koay Gak @ Lorong Macalister (炒粿角)

Char Koay Gak (炒粿角) @ Lorong Macalister is introduced by a Penang friend and saying this stall's Char Koay Gak is one of the famous Char Koay Gak in Penang. Therefore I decided to try it before left Penang Island back to KL. My comment on this food is "Not Bad" and definitely better the Char Koay Gak sold in KL.

And my Penang Makan Trip ends here......

RECOMMENDED!

Pinang Mua Chee @ Northam Cafe (多品味麻芝)

Accidentally found a nice mua chee sold by a stall located at Northam Cafe. There are 5 flavors served: Original, Green Tea, Sweet Corn, Black Sesame and Pandan.

The good thing of this mua chee is come with a lot of fresh peanut and topped with peanut butter too.

From the top of the kiosk, knows that its famous flavor is Sweet Corn but I still prefer Black Sesame flavor.

RECOMMENDED!

Northam Cafe (诺登美食坊)

I remember when I was kid, the gurney drive hawker center was at the seaside. You can enjoy the cold wind blew from the sea and listening the wave sound besides tasting the delicious Penang food. After the gurney drive hawker center was moved about 50 meters away for the sea side (can't recall since when), I can't experience it again as what I experienced mentioned as above.

Luckily, I found another hawker center which can bring you to experience the same - Northam Cafe. Not been there before? You should go there in your next Penang trip. Varieties of food served there and easy parking without parking fee.

Foods At Gurney Drive (新湾仔角美食中心)

Gurney Drive is one of the must go place in Penang. At Gurney Drive here, you can find the largest hawker center in Penang (Am I right?) and varieties of local Penang food are served there such as Laksa, Prawn Mee, Rojak, Seafood, Char Koay Teow, etc.

Every time I will order cooked octopus for myself, Sotong Bakar, Rojak and Soya Pudding for my girl friend when I am here. Generally, the food at Gurney Drive just so so only...

Please bear in mind that you will face parking issue when you go there. If the day is your lucky day, then you can park your car at road side. Usually, I will park my car inside Gurney Plaza, is easy but with parking fee!

ABC Special (New World Park Hawker Center)

New World Park is the latest modern hawker center in Penang. I was attracted by ABC Special sold here. Can you believe that just with RM3.80, you can have a bowl ABC served with single scoop of ice-cream and fresh fruits such mango, banana, papaya, etc.

Trust me, you can't get such ABC in KL! If can, please bring me there!
I was told that the stall that selling ABC special was selling ABC at the road side. Once this new hawker center was established last year, the ABC stall moved in to start the business at new and clean environment. It really RECOMMENDED!

Food Rating: 8 /10

Besides ABC special, you also can find other Penang local foods such Char Koay Teow, Asam Laksa, Prawn Mee, Pasembur, Rojak, etc. I tried the Char Koay Teow here but not good! So, remember don't repeat my mistake there again.

Sister's Char Koay Teow 姐妹炒粿條

Sister's Char Koay Teow is one of the favourite char koay teow (Fried Koay Teow) in Penang which is located at Lam Heng Cafe (南興茶室) of Jalan Macalister. Please don't be cheated by the photo that the char koay teow is served with 4 big prawns, actually just 2 only. The another two were given by my mum......hehe :P

Trying famous food usually will make you keep waiting for at least half and hour (sometime worst till more than an hour) to have the ordered food served on your dining table.

The mi is sold at RM4.00 per plate which is not cheap. May be the price is affected by the prawns given! Anyway, the taste of this fried koay teow is not so special and not sure the reason caused it become famous. Since it is famous, is not harm for you to try it. RECOMMENDED!

Food Rating: 6 /10

When you are here to try the char koay teow, please remember to try Stewed Chicken feet sold by a stall just beside Sister's Char Koay Teow stall. Very nice!! Besides, its yam cake also not bad and just served with chilies sauce only. RECOMMENDED!

Restaurant Old Green House 老青屋餐室

Restaurant Old Green House is considered a hawker center located at Jalan Burma, next to 1926 Heritage Hotel. The specialty of this hawker center is Green House Prawn Mi (called Hokkien Miin Penang). The size of the prawn mi is very small which is not suitable for dinner but yes for supper. RECOMMENDED!

Food Rating: 7 /10

Besides prawn mi, I was attracted by small Pau with sausage. So i ordered 3 pcs of it together with 3 pcs of small pork (char siu) Pau and 3 pcs of red bean pau. Taste normal but feel a bit expensive, cost me RM0.70 per pc. In KL, just only RM1 for 3 pcs.

A Quiet Place in PJ Section 17 but with Nice Food

Sometime you can find very nice food in a quiet place. You will surprise when you visit Khasiat Restaurant located at Section 17 Petaling Jaya. First you can find the famous beef noodle in PJ - "Uncle Cheng Special Beef Noodle (老鄭牛腩粉)". Uncle Cheng specialty is the dry beef noodle, really special and nice but bit expensive which will cost RM7.++ if not mistaken. (Sorry can't recall the price, I ate it last month :P)

Besides Uncle Cheng stall, you can find a stall is selling Steam Chee Cheong Fun (蒸豬腸粉), also very special. Even I was very full after took the beef noodle but still insisted to order the steam Chee Cheong Fun. No regret to order it but unfortunately couldn't finish. My stomach was very full! Am I greedy? Anyway it only cost you RM3.00 per plate. The cooking style just similar to steam fish with tofu, salty vege, tomato plus Chinese liquor.

Famous Japanese Ramen in Seri Kembangan 日本菠菜拉面

One of the crowded food stall in Seri Kembangan is selling Japanese Ramen. I seldom go there for dinner because I hate to queue for food. To me, the taste just similar to normal noodle soup. But why so crowded all the time? According to the shown picture of Ramen, please guess how much will cost you to have that noodle? The noodle is serve with vege, fish balls, corns, see weed, fried ikan bilis, etc.

The answer is RM3.00!!! I would say hard to find cheap food nowaday, especially in Klang Valley. No wonder so many people dine there and I believe most of them are university students (UPM / UNITEN / MMU).

Special Bentong Chicken Rice 文冬记滑鸡饭

I was brought by my best to this famous chicken rice in Taman Kinrara after the weekend bowling game in IOI Mall. This chicken rice stall located behind the famous STAR supermarket (corner lot).

Overall, the food quite ok with reasonable price. The meat (picture 1) very soft and boneless but the ordered chicken feet skin (picture 2) and bean sprout (picture 3) very normal.

Please try to avoid the given chilies sauce, quite spicy if you can take spicy!!!

He Kou Wei (合口味)

After had a bubble tea by Yippee Cup, I straight away drove to Niuzexui to try the Soba In Cool Noodle (酱拌冷面).

He Kou Wei offers set lunch (RM5.90 only) and set dinner (RM7.90 only) to its customer. The set including the meal + sauce + topping + a herbal drink. Quite worth it. The only difference between the set lunch and set dinner is the PRICE!!

There 3 types of source for you to choose: Original, Spicy (Recommended by Biz Owner) or Garlic and you also can choose one of the following as the topping:
(a) Turkey Ham floss
(b) Chicken Floss
(c) Crabstick Floss
(d) Mushroom (for vegetarian)
(e) Vege duck (for vegetarian)

My choice was Cool Noodle + Spicy + Turkey Ham Floss (unfortunately chicken floss and crabstick floss were finished that time).

I would say the noodle very special since is cold while you eating it and sauce taste also good. Besides, its herbal drink quite nice as well. Just try it when you are in Niuzexui for shopping.

Famous Food in OUG Pasar Malam

If you are free on Thursday night, you should go to OUG's Pasar Malam, a place where you can find some yummy food. It also crowded too until hard to walk. You can find many types of food such as Pan Mee, Asam Laksa, Chou Tofu, fried pork, Pearl Milk drink, Fried Kuey Teow, cakes, junk food etc.

Suddenly I noticed that this stall was interviewed by HoChak hosts on his Tokyo Crepes which cost RM4.50 per pc. I just tried another type of cake which only sold at RM2.00 for 6pcs. I chose the cake with red bean to try.

After the try, found that nothing special. May be should try Crepes, not the cheaper cake :P
